Private residences, our favorite "heroes"

Ron Scoleri installed his own panels on three mounts, each with its own tracking system. These 48 panels produce over 14,000 Kwh per year, totally powering his home. A Wattsun AZ-225 Dual Axis azimuth drive tracks the sun, and 2 Sunnyboy inverters take the DC to 120v AC.

Taws Cottage was built not only with a 5.3 kW PV system, but also a solar thermal unit (pictured on the left) which supplies Btu's to the domestic hot water and radiant floor heating system. Fully 90% of the entire home's energy usage is being offset by this free, natural source of energy.
This Kimberton 30 panel, 5 kW solar PV system was installed in July of '05. Leslie and Chris Jones are proud that it has produced a total of 14,400 kWh, displacing up to 6 tons(!) of CO2 since October, 2007.
