On Thin Ice-Research on Ocean Systems in Northwest Greenland

Presented by Andreas Muenchow, PhD

Snacks at 6:30, lecture at 7:00

Dr. Andreas Muenchow, a sea-going Oceanography Assoc. Professor at U. of DE, began his studies in the Delaware estuaries; but soon found himself drawn to some of the most remote glacier-ocean systems on the earth-that is, the far reaches of Northwest Greenland.

Beginning his research with questions as to the cause of melting arctic ice, Dr. Muenchow soon found conclusive evidence that the oceans were steadily warming due to climate change.  On May 10th, Dr. Muenchow will take us on his exploration of the Petermann Glacier and Wolstenholme Fjord.  Please join us to hear the overwhelming evidence of a melting arctic – and bring your friends that may still be doubtful as to the reality of climate change.  Perhaps they, too will thaw.
