Chester County Schools

Although Chester County is home to over 100 public and private schools, only Twin Valley Elementary School is constructed to a LEED standard, with a "geothermal" heating and cooling system and natural daylighting. Tests have shown that acheivement rates of students who attend high performance schools like Twin Valley Elementary are 20% faster on math and 26% faster on reading tests. These schools also report increased daily attendance and lower operating costs. Why would any taxpayer settle for less?

A report out from a special task force has recommended that school districts can find cost savings in builiding energy efficient "green" buildings, with a statewide savings of $13M.
