Watershed Groups

We consider Chester County's watershed protection groups our best resource for improving the quality of life in our area. Issues such as sprawl, open space and agricultural conservation, water quality and supply, and historic preservation are boilerplate subjects in every watershed's mission statement. Many watershed groups are now beginning to realize that climate protection cannot be segregated from their goals. Increasing average global temperatures are now associated with increased incidents of both flooding and drought (and less recharge), decreased agricuture yields, decreased dairy production, and increased rates of vector-borne disease.
